Shirasaki Ocean Park | The “Aegean Sea of Japan” with Stunning White Cliffs

Located in Yura Town, Wakayama Prefecture, Shirasaki Ocean Park—also known as Shirasaki Coast—is a breathtaking coastal area often called “The Aegean Sea of Japan.”
The contrast between the pure white limestone cliffs and the deep blue sea is simply mesmerizing, creating a view that feels almost unreal.

A Landscape Shaped Over Millions of Years

The coastline was formed from limestone more than 250 million years ago, giving it its unique bright-white appearance.
As sunlight hits the rocks, they glow softly against the turquoise waves, changing color throughout the day.
From the observatory deck, you can see across the Kii Channel, and even as far as Awaji Island on clear days.

More Than Just a View

Shirasaki Ocean Park is also a great place for camping, photography, and stargazing.
When night falls, the sky fills with countless stars—a perfect contrast to the sparkling blue of the daytime sea.
It’s a destination where nature, serenity, and beauty meet.

📸 A Photographer’s Paradise

Every corner of Shirasaki Coast looks like a scene from a postcard.
The sunset, when the white cliffs are tinted with orange light, is especially magical.
Whether you’re a casual traveler or a photography lover, this is a spot you won’t forget.
